Because of their work defending forced evictees, religious adherents and those prosecuted for exercising freedom of expression, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice prepared to revoke the lawyer licenses of human rights lawyers Tang Jitian and Liu Wei. On April 22, 2010, the hearing on the revocation took place at the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice. This was the beginning of a fresh round of persecution of human rights lawyers. In recent years, the situation regarding human rights lawyers have worsened. They have been sentenced and imprisoned, sent to Re-education through Labor camps, harassed, kidnapped, followed and beaten. And these malignant events have taken place frequently. These lawyers find themselves increasingly blocked as they continue to seek justice and speak out for the vulnerable and the week.
